What am I supposed to see different with Instant Hotspot if I already have had it?

So if I already had Hotspot enabled with my carrier, what does Instant Hotspot do for me?

It is supposed to allow you to quickly connect without having to toggle the personal hotspot switch in settings.

So if I had a Wifi iPad and it detects my phone, which would happen to have hotspot toggled off, it would automatically toggle it on to my phone without me physically having to go in there and do it manually then. Of course I would have already have had to manually set it up once before.

It would toggle it on and use the connection and then automatically turn it off when not in use. Works nicely with my iPad. Doesn't work however with my MacBook Pro retina for some reason.

Does this feature work currently with any iPad/iPhone combination? I have the iPad 2 and would like to use this feature if it's available. I currently am still waiting to have my iPhone 6+ shipped, therefore, I can't test it right now, thanks.
