Apple hasn't really cared about DRM'ing their own software in years. Kind of interesting it's only blowing up now.

Apple has their Mac App Store receipt in the downloaded binary like iMovie that's free; my Pro apps are no longer available for download.

They can decide to implement receipt verification whenever they want it, and the theft method (might? should?) breaks.

They have even have a documentation for App Store developers, so they know how to do it.
