I can't Restore my iPad Air. When I connected to iTunes I was asked to upgrade to V 8.4.1

I

iMore Question

My Ipad Air when connected to the latest iTunes asked me to upgrade to iOS8.4.1 (I think)

It failed and got as far as display the Apple icon with a progress bar. The progress bar gets to about 60% and tell me there is an error (14).

So. try to restore to the original settings as instructed and the iPad shows the Apple logo and the progress bar across to about 60% and I am told there is an error 14. My iPad doesn't work at all now.

What is recommended?

Check your USB connections
Errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014. You might also see a message that includes "invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, try different equipment:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
Try a different computer.
Solve other issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues.

I have tried all what you recommended as I read all I could from the internet before contacting you.
So I can't boot or anything.
A question, I have an iPad air which is unresponsive wit iTunes.
Can I, using the iPad disconnected to iTunes, reset it with its own controls?
Regards
Doug

OP here. Tried all sorts of possible solutions, including USB3 direct off the MOBO, without a solution. Then I tried a USB2 port direct off the MOBO and restore worked. All solved now.

Is there a USB2/USB3 issue with Win 8.1 and iPad 8.4.1?
