Why doesn't the calendar alert alarms go off for iphone6?

I've set alert alarms for important dates and no alarms sound. I've made sure my ringer is on. How do I get the alarms to sound?

Make sure you have a sound configured for Settings > Sounds > SOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS > Calendar Alerts.
