why does my iPhone 5c not ring when Ireceive a call...it goes straight to voicemail

My iPhone 5c does not ring when I receive a phone call ..it goes right to voice mail. People say they are trying to call me and my phone always goes right to voicemail?

Have you contacted your carrier to make sure there is not something on their end.

Make sure that iPhone?s Ring/Silent switch is OFF meaning ringer is ON. A bell will flash briefly on the screen when you turn on the ringer.
Make sure that the Do Not Disturb setting is not silencing calls (Settings > Do Not Disturb).
Make sure that Airplane Mode is OFF (Settings > Airplane Mode).
Make sure that your carrier software is up to date (Settings > General > About).
