My iPhone 5C won't restore. Can you help me?

I have an iphone 5c... it will not restore through itunes. says there was an unknown error -1... please please help. what hardware should i replace????
the status bar goes 3/4 of the way across the screen then iTunes throughs the alarm... I am using the latest version of iTunes and firewall is turned off. I did the same thing to a different iPhone and it restored just fine

Was the iPhone 5C jailbroken prior to you attempting to restore it, and if so, did you select to 'erase all contents and settings'?
