Changing Apple ID Password?

i need to change my apple id password and i want to make sure i do it the right way. i know when you change your actually apple id you have to follow steps so things transfer. is it the same with the apple id password? how do you change your apple password and has anyone done it?

Just go to iTunes and go to your account info. It can all be done right there.

but it doesnt effect any of your previously boughten apps when you purchase new apps with your password?
