AirPod series 2 unreliable touch gestures

Greetings all, one of my AirPods Pro stopped working last week (apple replacement on the way, great warranty experience), so I'm back to using my Series 2 (grabbed them back from one of my kids).

I'm noticing that the double tap gesture on the left hand AirPod works sometimes, but not all the time. I've tried resetting, factory resetting etc, just wondering if anyone else has suggestions.

Those tap gestures are notorious for being inconsistent and unreliable. I’m not saying there isn’t anything wrong with yours, but you wouldn’t be the first to complain of that experience, especially considering you’re coming from the Pros, which have a much more friendly gesture.
