The native contacts app does appear upright in landscape mode. As for the little dinky letters & symbols making data a real problem, I don't know what you're talking about. Sorry.1 Entering contacts, no landscape mode for contacts. Little dinky letters and symbols make data a real problem, no fix so far for iphone 5 and iphone 4 I see does this OK.
I don't have an iPhone 5, but my 4S does have iOS 6.0.1 on it and iOS, in my experience, does NOT natively block callers who are not listed in the native contacts list whether you answer a call or let it go to voicemail. As for you being a physician, that is irrelevant in this regard. In my opinion, the iPhone 5 is not for you or to many other people and that's okay. If your Android device suits your needs better, then good for you. That is why having a choice of devices to choose from is a good thing.2 If one does not pick up the call in time iphone 5 with all the updates blocks the caller not on your list, I am a physician and this has forced me back to my Android phone.
First of all, those things are not broken. What you seek may simply not be available in the manner you'd like with the iPhone. Anyway, thank you for posting and I hope you have a safe & pleasant evening. Take care...If these are fixed I will use it again but not now!
