Peps,

I've just realised that this is something I miss from the old Nokia's.

I could really do with an app or a tweak to allow me to do this.

Any recommendations?

I found one that is called auto silent in Cydia, but that doesn't let you set the volume in profiles.

What I'm looking for is something just like what you use to have on the old Nokia's.

I want my ringer half way at work and full blast at home with the kids.

Cheers!!

I have looked long and hard to find something that resembles the Profiles options I had with my BlackBerry. While nothing works exactly the same, there are two options that I have found that are close, although they work in completely different ways. Both require a Jailbreak...

#1: SBProfiles: This one may be what you are looking for. With a simple toggle, you can set it up for volume control, screen brightness, enable or disable certain functions, including 3G, Data, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. The biggest drawback I have encountered is that I set it up, originally, for a sleep profile, which disabled 3G, Data, and WiFi. This, of course, means no mail got delivered over night, and therefor no alerts to wake me up. There is NO WAY TO DISABLE SMS! Pretty big issue, but I do not get a lot of SMS except for from family, so perhaps not so big. The issue occurred at 05:00 the next morning. I created another profile to re-anable those functions I had disabled. However, while I am usually up at 04:00, I got a chance to sleep in. Not so much. When 3G, Data, and WiFi were restored, all my messages downloaded, along with alerts - a - plenty! So much for sleep.

#2. iScheduler. This is the app that most closely resembles what was possible with the BlackBerry. You can silence (not disable) Mai,, SMS, Push Notifications, etc., and schedule when to do so, and when to return your alerts back to normal. Just what I was looking for. EXCEPT: There is no option to set custom ringtones, except for the phone ringer. I use custom sounds for phone, SMS, and Mai;. Every morning when the sound profiles restored, I got a system sound that I didn't want to use. I had to go into Settings|Sounds and restored my custom sounds. I did email the app developer re: this issue, and got a reply that he would work on supporting custom tones for Phone, SMS, AND Mail. However, until he does this, I am not going to spend the $8 for the app. If or when he does, I will gladly spend the cash. I think the app has that much potential. He does offer a 3 day trial, and if you do not use custom sounds, I would highly recommend this one.

Hope this helps, and that it is not too confusing. I am not much of an author, but I try....
