Jailbreaking the iPhone 1 Generation on the 3.0 firmware

Maybe a stupid question, but I only see information on upgrading and jailbreaking the newer generations to the new 3.0 firmware. I have a 1st generation iPhone and would like to upgrade-- do I just let it upgrade through iTunes? Or will I need to use the same method as before with the newer firmware.
