Background refresh ??

I remember on my iPhone 5 that apps (like safari and messages) would load new info. For example, if I had someone's message window open in the background, just double clicking the home button to view messages on screen would show that they are typing or any messages that they send, live. Now on the 6+ it's not live anymore. I have to actually enter the messages app for it to update and refresh. Why is this?

I just tested the message being typed thing. It works for me. I did a restore as new a couple of weeks ago.

Ah yeah I did that too when restoring to iOS 8.1

I'm noticing each day that the iOS 8.1 update really fixed much less than I thought it did. Even the "airdrop menu text shrinking and squashed issue" is still there. Maybe 8.1.1 will be the one that addresses issues like this, hopefully even the 6+ performance issues
