reverting back to 3.0 - HELP!

Hi.

First time posting, so if i've posted in wrong section.....sorry.

my friend bought the iphone 3gs from canada and had it jailbroken so he could use it here in the uk. the phone was working fine over here until he updated to 3.1. now the phone isnt working at all.

is there any chance he can revert back to 3.0 or anything to get it working again??

Currently the 3GS is not jalbroken, which is needed to unlock the phone. Also, downgrading to 3.0 is not allowed at this point.
