Sending group messages on an iPhone 6

I have an iPhone 6. I need to have data on to send group messages. Why? If I only have wifi they won't send.If data is off it will say message undeliverable.

Welcome to iMore! If you're sending a group text message you need to have cellular data enabled because that is how SMS messages work. iMessage, on the other hand, will send over wifi but all members of the group message must have Apple devices with iMessage enabled.
