How do I tell what data I'm using?

iMore Question

So I just got data, and I have 2.5 GB of 4G LTE data and unlimited 3G . I guess my question is how do I know if I'm using my limited data? I'm connected to wifi at home and I know how it shows that and all but I turned off LTE in my settings (iPhone 6) . Since j turns that off does that mean I won't be using my data ? Sometimes it comes up with 4G but not LTE and sometimes it only comes up with LTE but when t comes up with the 4G am I using my unlimited data...?

When it said 4G it could be using your unlimited 3G but when it says LTE you will be on your capped allowance. 3G HSPA+ is displayed as 4G in the US on AT&T and T-Mobile but in the rest of the world the 4G indicator usually means LTE but like you said that you see LTE then I would guess 4G actually means 3G.

I think stormchasejg is correct, when it says 4G you are using your unlimited 3G data, and when it says LTE - you use your limited data.

You can always turn off LTE in your phones settings for mobile networks. :)
