Phone says i have 641 photos, itunes/sync says i have 2500?

I have 32G 5s iphone. I am not very computer/tech savvy, but am learning. I can no longer add any movies/books/podcasts or even updates as it says that i have over 12.1GB of photos, I just did a huge delete session of photos, videos etc and in the camera-collections it says i have 634 photos and 41 videos. When i try to sync it says i have in storage over 3500 photos. after the 'delete' session it still says i have over 2500 photos, but on my camera it says i have only 634? I have also lost a lot of my playlists and my podcast icon, they just disappeared. whats up? I just want my storage back. I rarely purchase anything from iTunes or buy books or movies. I just use my phone for internet, photos and music ( i have 4G of music)

Have you tried to restart your device? Sometimes that will correct any discrepancies with storage. Also, you can configure your device to same space with pictures.
