Why does my rMBP reboot on every login attempt?

rMBP reboots on every login attempt

This started happening a few days ago. I login, the screen turns black, the Apple logo pops up, and I have to login again. After this little 'cycle' I can login. Is there a way of fixing this?

I don't recall turning FileVault on but it was. Turning it off fixed the issue.
