Why can't I see all of my uploaded music on iPhone?

hello, thanks for the help. have iphone 6 plus. uploaded music from desktop iTunes library to my iphone, but I cannot see all the music, only some of it. I look in each category ( composers, artists, songs, albums, etc) and only a few songs show up under each category. even when I search for an artist, or album or song, the screen just goes white with nothing on it.
what is going on????

I'm not sure. Are all of the music in a format that's playable on the iPhone?
