According to this cNet article, the 4GB iPhone costs $245.83 (parts and labor) and the 8GB version costs $280.83. Even after shipping and paying for all those Mac Guy/PC Guy ads, Mr. Jobs should be able to turn a tidy profit on this deal. No need for him to lower the price, though - all the Macophiles will buy the phone sight unseen and none of the Anti-Macs would be caught dead with one so retail price is a non-issue with regard to potential market share.
