AT&T screwed me up last year. My order was submitted and charged, but they couldn't locate my confirmation #. Ended up going to the Apple store two weeks after I was supposed to get it.

Going through the Apple store this year. AT&T is a backup option.

It might be just me but I have found that ordering through Apple is a lot more straightforward than through the carrier. Keep in mind carrier is just a middleman. Apple is the manufacturer.
