I have had this 2017(no Touch Bar) mbp for 2 months. I started noticing that it would random display a colored static before showing my log in screen. I wasn't sure if it was display or software based, from things I have been able to read is that apple has stated to a customer with the same problem that it is software related.
I downloaded the mohave public beta and I can say that as of typing this I haven't had it happen once yet. As of right now it does seem like the issue has been addressed in mohave. I am unsure about any future builds of High Sierra.
What I can say is that dark mode makes this computer even freaking better. I hope there is an iOS 12 update that will include this as an option.
