closing the app OR not?

A friend of mine never close the apps in the background (except Waze) ,
she said that shut down the app making a worse battery life because the app out of the phone's RAM.

is it true? do you close all the apps in the background or leave it alone ?

*P.S sorry for the dumb question, I'm new with ios.

First, it's not a dumb question.

I close every app when I'm done using it. And from personal experience, I can tell you it "can" hurt battery life to leave apps open. However, depending on the application and your settings, your mileage may vary.

I leave mine open sometimes and it hasn't hurt my device. It varies I suppose on what you leave open.

Not unless you have a good reason to do so. Like if an app is freezing up. Most apps in the multitasking tray are not "running". They just sit there. Swiping them out for no reason only takes more resources to open them back up. IOS manages RAM quite well.

I never close any of my apps. iOS manages everything pretty good. I've never had a reason to worry as long as there is no issue with a specific app.

I have a tendency of closing my apps on a regular basis especially if it's a game that drains battery life. Other than that usual apps like Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, nope. I leave them open.

I leave open the apps that I frequently use during the day.
Regardless, I close all apps at night.

I leave mine open and it doesn't hurt battery at all. I guess it comes down to personal preference.

I kind of do my randomly. Probably a couple of times a week. But i find if I don't my battery life isn't affected.
