So I have a ton of music in the AAC format. iTunes Match doesn't like the .m4a files so I'd like an easy way to find these files and convert them to mp3.
Any tips?
thanks
Identifying them in iTunes is pretty straight-forward.
Go to VIEW / SHOW VIEW OPTIONS and check the checkbox for TYPE (in the FILE section, near the bottom). This adds a column to your view that is sortable (click on the column header)... I am not sure what the various options are, but in my iTunes library I have the following:
AAC audio file (AAC .m4a)
PURCHASED AAC audio file (AAC .m4a which may/may not contain DRM)
MPEG audio file (MP3 .mp3)
You can sort by type and select all .m4a (AAC) files... you can also convert the format to MP3 by changing your default import setting to MP3... and then right click on the selection and choose CREATE MP3 VERSION... but that will create duplicated items - one of each format... then you?d have to deal with that...
