Reinstall iOS 8.1

I initially updated with OTA and would like to replace the update I have already done with one using iTunes. Wondering if anyone can tell me the best method on my iPhone 6.

In iTunes backup and either restore as new or restore to the backup depending on what you are trying to do

Ok thanks. So it will automatically download the software?

You will not get prompted for a download since you have the current version of iOS installed, but if you choose restore yes it will download the most current version of iOS. If you did not have the most current version of iOS installed on your iPhone, iTunes would prompt you to download and upgrade.

Make sure when you're on iTunes you hit the "Backup now" button before anything so iTunes will have a backup to restore onto your phone right after it finishes re-installing iOS 8.1. Or you can of course just restore an iCloud backup if you choose to do that.

Settings - iCloud - Backup and you'll see the option to backup in case you don't have it turned on.
