Question Airpods pro 2 update?

Hi everyone! So, I have an Iphone 8. Can't get a new one right now unfortunately. Ever since iOS 17 came out, I didn't really care, UNTIL... A new airpods pro 2 update came out with all these cool features! Now I'm obsessed with trying to get iOS 17 so I can update my airpods. I was wondering if I could pair them with one of my friends phones, update them on their phone, then pair them back with my phone and they'll be updated. Is that possible? If not, is there anything else I can do?

Those features might require iOS 17 or an iphone capable of iOS 17.

No, unfortunately not. Here is a screenshot from Apple’s website that shows all models eligible for iOS 17.
