Outlook calendar functionality in iPad

I have downloaded Outlook, and linked my existing mail and calendar accounts to it. I did this primarily because, let's face it, Apple Calendar is awful. However, all new calendar entries must tie back to my iCloud Calendar account, so I'm still constrained by all the Calendar limitations (for example only having a limited number of alert times, rather than choosing whatever I want). Is there a way of creating new calendar entries in Outlook that aren't linked to (and therefore constrained by) my iCloud Calendar account?

It works with multiple sources. I am in multiple Microsoft and Google tenants.
