my cell phone says FROM: a person in my contacts and not my name all of a sudden.

My cell phone lost my name as the sending person. It now says From: Mark Smith and my name is Karen

Welcome to iMore! Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendar > scroll down to Contacts > my info > Tap on your name.
That should set you as the sender.
