Is there a way to get the task bar to appear easily while using Mail?

getting the task bar to appear easily while using Mail

is there a key stroke or distinct swiping pattern to use in the Mail application, to get the task bar to pop up. Is there a way to keep it displayed when in mail? I have no trouble with it disappearing in Safari, only in Mail.

What device and iOS are you using? I'm not seeing that issue on my iPhone or iPad.
