Ipod touch help

Today I just got an iPod touch, and I have no idea what my generation is. I have an 8gb iPod Touch. Battery Life tells me I have a 2nd gen, while a website told me I had a 3rd. How can I tell what gen my iPod Touch is, and what proper jailbreak methods are for each 8gb iPod gen?

Could be either. U can find out by looking at the serial number on the back

another easy way to find out is to look at what software version it came with... most of 3rd gen will come 3.1.3 or later unless you got it used and the previous owner had updated their 2nd gen... hope that helped a little, if any

Type the serial number on apple warranty check site it will tell you what you have
