How do I stop an iPod Touch (2nd gen) from boot looping?

My iPod Touch (2nd gen) keeps restarting infinitely right when the apple logo pops up on screen. I tried to restore the iPod through iTunes but it said it couldn't be restored. Now, I am trying to look for a solution.

Ed7789 gives the +1 info. Try that forced restart and cross your fingers. If that just gets you back to the same infinite reboot loop, try the DFU restore steps. This is likely your best, and last, chance (DFU mode = best chance to run a successful restore).
With the device being so long in the tooth, brace yourself that the device is beyond help. If you still want an iPod touch, I’ve seen much newer generation refurbs in the vicinity of 60$. BOL
