iPhone Unlock. Is it Legal?

I am interested in unlocking my Iphone 3G. However i am not sure the whole legality on it. Can any one advise? I found several things i am interested to buy but want to make sure I can not be thrown to jail for buying them. I was interested in iphone-sim-unlock.com

Does Apple or AT&T/other carriers really care as long as they're getting your money? Most likely not.
