Just sold a A1661 iphone 7 plus, purchased from Target (Verizon branded, but never used on Verizon) removed the cricket sim that I used for a year and sold it to a Metro PCS user. The user is now getting the message:
"The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iphone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iphone. please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iphone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information."
Cricket verifies the phone is not locked to them in any way. Running ESN checker shows whitelisted and clear (it does show that AT&T and Cricket both had the phone on its network before, but Cricket says they can confirm the phone is not locked to their network). Do I need to call AT&T or is there some reason this phone won't activate with a Metro PCS sim?
I'd really appreciate any insight or help, thanks so much.
