iPad 2 suddenly silent

sound was tinny last night and today it's gone. tried restarting. still gone.
got it for christmas 2011.
any possible solutions besides getting a new one?

Check your mute/silent switch, The volumn controls and anything else having to do with the sound.

Also be sure the mic and speakers are clean of debris.
