How to turn off Live Photos permanently?

I just turn off Live Photo when I go into the camera. But I agree, I have it toggled off, yet Live Photo is still automatically turning itself back on.

Except thats not PERMANENT. Even with thoae settings, Live will randomly turn back on. Mine just did. Worse, it has actually turned itself on and posted videos I did not know were being taken. Wa-ay too sensitive there on the touch screen! The question is how to make this bug - er, I mean feature - no, sod it, I do mean bug - go away forever, never to be turned on again?

Can't be done. I offered the next best solution in my response from 2016. You can also use a third party camera app if you choose. There are plenty available.

The "preserve settings" no longer work for defaulting back to the camera > photo, it ALWAYS opens the camera app to its last setting whether preserve setting is OFF (which I want) or ON. The live photo setting works though, thank god for that.

I have "live photos" toggled on under Preserve Settings. It stays off in the camera app, unless I enable it.
