Debating this myself currently. I'm on a 4th Gen Air and I hate that most of the iPads still use TouchID since it fails to recognize my fingerprint consistently within a week or so of storing it. Happened on the phones also a lot unless I used my left thumb which is very hard to do on an iPad. Don't really need a Pro, but I want it for FaceID.

I also have the 4th Gen iPad Air, and dislike the TouchID! It's awkward. I did add a couple of different fingers to make it easier... and I think my left index finger works best. I'm not in the market yet for a new iPad, but I will hope that my future iPad has FaceID capability!
