How far up the screen should the keyboard beon an iPad air?

My keyboard won't stay at the bottom of the screen even after pressing dock at the bottom right

Half up the screen in landscape mode... One third in portrait... If you've got a cursor in a text entry box, the keyboard will be on screen.
