How do I get my I phone 5 out of idefinite loop

Hi, I just purchased this phone on the used market. It is not hot. Last owner advised phone was stuck in some kind of loop after trying to update. I tunes will recognize the phone but the phone will not respond when I tunes attempts to restore/update. Hard reset will not work. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

There's a program out there called TinyUmbrella - it has a menu option that will supposedly break the boot loop... it could also be that there's a hardware issue that is causing the loop.
