Gmail ?

I am a former Blackberry user and had my Gmail setup so that it would not show emails that i had viewed on my blackberry as read when I logged into gmail from my laptop. Is there a way to do this on the iphone? All the bills i pay are online and i would hate to miss one because i forgot to read an email again. Thanks.

You could theoretically set it up Gmail as POP instead of IMAP, which means changes on your iPhone wouldn't reflected on the server.

Manually go in and edit the account settings to use Gmail pop settings instead -- the details can be found in your Gmail settings.
