Question extreme data use

Hi , Its been awhile since I've been on here.

Just wondering has anyone ever had this problem that I have run into today ?

Daughters 12 mini seems to use a heck of a lot of data in an hour and she says she's on Wi-Fi when this happened. She has checked WIFI and it seems to be fine.
She does use iCloud , but says the setting is for WIFI only back ups.
Today in an hour used over 8GB of data in an hour and on the March 22 used over 5 in an hour.
She doesn't use her phone as a hot spot so not sure why so much data being used.

Talked to our carrier TELUS here in Canada and they can't explain it either.

She used to share data with her mom, but hasn't since about 10 days ago and the pictures I am providing show what the normal use for data the last couple of months have been with the 2 of them. And the other shows what data she has been using in the last 10 days.
Is it possible her phone could be hacked?

Is WiFi Assist enabled in the Cellular settings? If that setting is enabled, the phone will use cellular data if the wireless network is slow or unreliable.

They probably downloaded the software update through data and not the wifi connection. Don’t believe they were hacked.

I would go to settings mobile data and turn on low data mode.

always good to catch wifi when you can but a person these days is still worrying about going over their data usage, either you need more data on your plan depending on how you use your phone or maybe you are using to much and need to reevaluate yourself and the digital world

If you turn on low data mode, several things won’t work or work well. I would definitely check with Apple. It could be a hardware issue.
