Apps will not sync with iTunes!

when trying to update apps iTunes encounters error.
The message tells you that app has been purchased already even though iTunes store informs a update is available.
Does anyone or apple know of this. Is it a iTunes 8.2.1 issue or a 3.0 issue

Apple informed me that error was due to it servers being extremely busy.
