Anyway to stop phone from cropping (or zooming) in on photo when I change key photo in editor?

When I take photos in live move and attempt to change key photo, it always cuts part of the photo out and seemingly zooms in. I’m new to iPhones, is this just how it normally is? Anyway I can change that? It really ruins a good a photo

I'm not sure what you mean by "key photo". If you mean edit photos in the photos app, it does tend to crop if your not careful. If you can't adjust it, I suggest using a 3rd party app. I do most photo cropping with Camera+. I use 3rd party apps for all my image editing. Live photos don't do well to edit. Best to leave them alone.
