No sound out of 6s ear piece

My mom had had a 6s since January of this year. She went to make a phone call but there was no sound from the ear piece. We could switch to speaker and everything was fine. I did notice when adjusting the volume it said headphones. Any tips to correct the problem or will this require a trip to repair shop.

You probably have some sort of debris stuck up in the headphone jack. Try blowing into it or using some compressed air to clear it out. If you're still having an issue after that stop into an Apple Store or contact Apple Support.
