I'm pretty sure you can download the previous firmware and restore it using that firmware as apple allows 3G's to downgrade only

I am sorry! I didn't make it clear. I used itunes to upgrade my 3g firmware 3.1.2 to 4.1.2. Is it possible to jailbrake and unlock to make it working again? and Please show me how to do it. I am new to the Iphone.
Thank you very much!

You should have posted this in the JB section of TiPb. That forum should be able to help you out. Or just save yourself the headache and stay #teampure

Wrong sub forum...but the answer is yes, you can JB the phone with redsn0w, but it is tethered, which proves to be quite a PITA. For explanation and what not, head over the the jailbreak section and post your situation...

One note to the OP. If you are really that new to the iPhone the I would not recommend that you even mess with JB. Unless there is something that you HAVE to do on your phone that can only be done with a JB then I would just leave it alone all together.

He needs an unlock, so has to jb.

Since you have a 3G, you can just download the version you want (try 3.1.3 for the 3G) and then restore to that and then jb/unlock.
