I Pre-ordered 2 iPhones a little after 4 AM Central time on the 15th when AT&T started accepting pre-orders on their website. I was having no luck with Apple.
I ordered a 32g Black for my father, and a 16g Black for myself. We are on a family plan, but I ordered separately his with his credit card and mine with my Visa debit card (knowing at&t said they wouldn't accept debit cards).
I went to bed shortly after saving a copy of the order confirmation receipt that showed up after I pre-ordered both. I woke up and checked the e-mail account tied to the Family plan, and no emails whatsoever. I checked the order status, and the 32g iPhone (credit card iPhone) was processed and everything was fine. The 16g iPhone (debit card iPhone) had no record and was getting the error many experienced when checking the status.
I called AT&T 3 times yesterday.
The first time I had no hold time and talked to a male representative who was very nice. He was seeing the same thing I was, and transferred me to some online order department where I was hold for 20 min. The guy there was clueless and said it should show up within the next 6-8 hours.
8 Hours later, nothing. I call back and was on hold for about 9-10 min before talking to a nice lady (I was actually surprised how nice she was). She was having the same issue as the very first guy. So she transferred me to the online order department yet again. Less than a minute on hold she get back on the line and said that I couldn't be put through due to a high call volume. She apologized and was very nice about it. Before I hung up she game me the number to get ahold of the online order department directly.
I call them 2 times. The first time I couldn't get through like the lady who gave me the number. 10 minutes later I try again and get through. I was on hold waiting for someone to answer for 40 minutes. The rude lady who answered told me to wait 48 hours and check. 40 minutes for a 3 minute call that gets me nowhere.
Fast forward to today, I woke up checked the status and it is in progress now. So it went through and now shows when I type the confirmation number in. It didn't show up until the 17th but it shows order date as the 16th. I am just hoping priority goes to date and time ordered, and not when processed.
I stayed up until 4 in the AM because I am traveling across the states for the whole month of July. I would be very disappointed if AT&T screws this up. Then again it wouldn't surprise me as this isn't the first time I would be disappointed in AT&T.
EDIT: I would like to mention this morning my Debit card was charged the full $216.91 for the order. I cannot comment on the 32g order as I do not have access to my fathers Credit Card.
