sync issue - app dissapears

I'm having a weird sync issue - 2 days ago i synced my phone with itunes (jaibroken with redsnow) and i noticed that one of my apps dissapeared. so i downloaded and reinstalled it via installous. i synced again last nite, the app dissapeared. Is there a specific setting needed in itunes to NOT remove apps? I've already done a reset on notifications and am not seeing any new ones when i sync my phone.

It sounds like the problem is that you don't own the app.

I was under the impression that you can still back it up in itunes? every other app on my phone backed up without an hitch except for this one. (or am i wrong?)
