Jailbreak on different computer?

I'm over at my girlfriend's house and I don't have the power cord for my laptop. So I have a couple questions about jailbreaking:

1.)Can I jailbreak on her computer since iTunes isn't suppose to be running in the background?

2.)Does jailbreaking erase existing data on the iPhone requiring me to sync after jailbreaking to get all my stuff back on my iPhone?

1) you could jailbreak, but you would be forced to set up as a New iPhone, and authorize another computer.

2) Yes. Thats why the last step is a Restore from your iTunes. It, by necessity, reflashes the ROM.
