Terrible battery since update

Since updating to 5.1, the battery life on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 is horrible. All settings are still set the same as before the update. Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, bleeding. I've lost 5% in less than an hour and a half and I've done NOTHING.

Same here. I was at 100% at 6:00 am. Checked emails a couple of times and am now at 87% 2 hours later.

last night i fully charged my device then took it off the charger before i fell asleep. i only lost 5% in about 5.5 hours. i feel that is pretty good since it equates to about 1% per hour of "real" non-usage

FYI: i restored as new device after updating to 5.1

My 3G has always been hit and miss. Sometimes I have to do a soft reset to get my phone to switch back over.

It's because, if you have a 4S, you were magically upgraded to 4G. Didn't you know that 4G is a battery hog?

Have you tried restoring as new? Maybe that would help. Otherwise, I'd advise you to take it to the Genius Bar.

If 3G coverage is poor, your battery will take a hit. If you're in an area with great 3G reception, then I recommend you reset your device as new and then monitor battery usage. If it still drains quickly with little use then take it to a nearby Apple store.

Restores haven't made a difference. I made an appt tonight. They are probably sick of seein me!

Potentially dumb question.... if I restore as new will my contacts still be in the cloud for me to put back into the phone? I'm not that well versed on the cloud so I'm hesitant but my battery is bleeding out as we speak.

Yup. My magic 4G phone dropped 40% in a couple of hours when I was away from wifi.

as long as you have backed up to iCloud there should not be any issues
