Make sure you have iTunes installed and running.

1. Download iTunes from iTunes - Download iTunes Now - Apple .
2. Connect the lightning cable to your desktop and 5S.
3. Unlock your 5S and say yes to the onscreen TRUST COMPUTER alert.
4. Open iTunes, it should automatically detect you iPhone.
5. Click on the iPhone logo and then click sync.
