I got a new phone, will old messages show

I got a new iPhone, will my old text messages show up in spot light search or does spotlight search only show messages that were sent/received on that phone?

If you set up your new device from scratch then no, but if you restored a backup to the new device then they probably will, but I'm not certain of it.
