How do I activate my cellular data network for my iphone 5s?

I am trying to get onto the internet using my iphone 5s. What is the procedure when I get a message saying "could not activate cellular data network".

I am new to the iphone 5s.

Are you able to make calls? What does the top left of the screen say? You should see 3G or LTE at the top.

One other thing to check is:

Settings -> Cellular

At the top will be a cellular data switch. Is it on?

You need to reset the network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
